1. About God’s Special Treasure

Hey! That’s you and that’s me!! That’s how God sees us!! And the Hebrew word for that is “Segullah”. Hey, I like that!! To think, I am precious to God!

God chose His people Israel, and He said of them, “You are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” (Deut. 14:2, NKJ)

“This day the LORD your God commands you to observe these statutes and judgments; therefore you shall be careful to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. Today you have proclaimed the LORD to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice. Also today the LORD has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments, and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to the LORD your God, just as He has spoken.” (Deut. 26:16-19)

And again in Malachi 3:17-18 …. check this one out!

“ They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts,

‘ On the day that I make them My jewels.
And I will spare them
As a man spares his own son who serves him.”
Then you shall again discern
Between the righteous and the wicked,
Between one who serves God
And one who does not serve Him.’”

WOW!! God’s people are His jewels!!

But that’s all in the Old Testament. Well check this out in the New!! Hey, this one’s for US!!

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”

So, there ya go!! WE are God’s special treasures and His precious jewels…. His CHOSEN ones!!
