“And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” (Jer 29:7)
As I read that today, it reminded me that no matter what situation (city) the Lord has caused us to be in, we need to both:
- Seek the peace of that “city”;
- Pray for that “city”.
We will then have peace in the midst of the troublesome situation.
Or as Paul said about being content…
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Tim 6:6)
“Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:11-13)
