The Rejected is now the Chief Cornerstone!

As I don’t know a real lot about building, and I did want to understand about the cornerstone, I did a bit of research.

In the Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary is says that the cornerstone “a stone placed at the corner, or the intersecting angle, where two walls of a building come together. In biblical times, buildings were often made of cut, squared stone. By uniting two intersecting walls, a cornerstone helped align the whole building and tie it together.”

It is interesting that it is squared stone.. a cube… which represents perfection. It measures the same on all sides, so that all the building could be aligned.

So Jesus is the only one with whom we can line our lives up with.

Many try to line there lives up with other things, like man’s philosophy, man’s psychology and man’s ideas, but they are just not square. Hence lives that are really out of alignment and crooked!! Man’s wisdom does not cut it. You can’t depend on it because it is constantly changing.

But the wisdom of Christ is cut and dry, and rock solid!! It is ABSOLUTE!! It is something we can build our lives on! It is something that we CAN believe in, because it never changes.

See what Jesus said in Matthew 16:15-18 …..

“Then he asked them, ‘But who do you say I am?’
“Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’
” Jesus replied, ‘You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.’”

So it is our belief in Jesus that is our cornerstone to build our lives on. And it is that belief that the whole Church is built on… THAT JESUS IS THE MESSIAH, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD!

“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.”

How blessed we are that God should choose to include ALL who believe in this wonderful structure. WE are His holy temple. WE are in HIS family!!

Anything else that we may choose to believe in, that we line our lives up with, will never measure up, and all will be out of plumb!!
