Perfect peace!

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isa 26:3, ESV)

Perfect peace?? It seems so unimaginable in this world full of turmoil! But God has promised we can have it!

The Hebrew word is shalom, which is the Hebrew greeting… just like we say, “Hello!”, “Hi” or in Oz, “G’day!” It means completeness, wholeness, peace, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. It comes from the root verb shalam, meaning “to be complete, perfect, and full.”

Now who of us wouldn’t want all that?? Sounds too good to be true!! But, hey, that’s what the Bible says we have if we keep focus on HIM!! Jesus, the Prince of Peace!!

So, why don’t we experience all that?? Where’s the missing link? It has to be with us!

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27, ESV)

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:4-7, ESV)

“And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:7, Amp)

THAT is perfect peace!!
